Hello All! It is officially Summer~ With that brings more time outside scouting new vistas and landscapes that inspire and carry home the beauty of the outside world. These come back to the studio to become both large and small scale paintings. First stop - the remote canyons of Utah, breathtaking beauty. New paintings are underway that reflect the incredible colors and compositions of these majestic places. And as always, new pieces are being created that reflect the amazing and varied landscapes of Colorado.
Working on increasing my visibility I am pleased to share Women Artists of the West is presenting our work and studio spaces on the home page of the website in a new format called, 'Studio Stories'. This is a wonderful, short photo essay of my painting process, some artist context and, the theory behind the work. Here is my first Studio Story! https://womenartistsofthewest.org/studio-stories/susan-slomski-artist-hillsofthewesternslope-626
It was a busy spring with the Featured Artist Show at the Open Door Studios and Gallery in Cheyenne, WY. Despite the wind, art lovers came out in good number for the monthly Cheyenne Art Walk. I enjoyed talking with each patron who came in to the gallery to visit and view the work. Georgia Rowswell, Fabric/Textile Artist and Gallery Owner is a wonderful promoter and an incredibly talented artist. Thank you to Georgia and Denise Hawkins, photographer and co-manager, for the Featured Artist Invitation. Several new pieces were debuted at their gallery during the Cheyenne Art Walk, a few are shown below.
Thank you readers for staying connected! Sincerely, Susan |
